A year ago from today was a different day for me.
I was on the journey with this about to end relationship. A trip was planned when we were still dear to each other. Everything fell apart when we were driving on the endless west Australia landscape. The long silence and tears suppressed by anger were our background music.
Now we are on different tracks. Both of us are well in our each own way. As the saying goes, grow older and wiser. That I am.
Happy Finn.
* Notes on Finland: met three important people
1. Rauli
Back in 2004, I went to western Mongolia to see eagle hunter. Signed my name and email address on the book of the guest house I stayed. Couple weeks later, I got an email from Rauli the real Finn asking me if I were another Finn in western Mongolia. Afterwards, we have kept in loose contact. The second day I as in Finland, we met up in a cafe. He is a war zone journalist. Covering tons of amazing stories but his super busy schedule prevented me from asking him endless questions ranging from Aung San Su Ki to Kin-men's chopping knife. His book is coming out in Finland this summer. WOW.
2. Kaisa
My couch surfing host. She has completely overthrown my ideas and assumptions about the Finns. She is the opposite of those stereotypical notions. Kind, generous, loving, gentle, talkative, smiling all the time and has a Bangladeshi boy friend!
3. Filshie
My favorite person.
