That long neck man

Today I listened the to online radio interview of Syrian President Bashar al Assad with the BBC reporter about middle east peace process. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/

I was genuine surprised. After I have seen the destruction of Golan height, the brutal bombing at Israeli border, the meger situation of Palestanian refugee camp in Syria and Lebanon, I expected to hear a dictator justifying his doings.

Yet, he sounded sincere, soft-spoken, firm but gentle. He also mentioning about whether he can fasten up political and economic reforms in Syria. Peace process, home stability, peace with Israel, keeping it mutual with Lebanon, united Sunni Arabs brothers, the withdrawn relationship with Hezbollah...all these contradicting terms bewilder me.

All I can still remember is his elongated neck and the whispering gentle voice as if he is only the sexy Hollywood film director talking carelessly about his latest work.
